Do you wonder what the black button on this foot is used for?

It locks the foot in a horizontal position when the black button is held in while lowering the presser foot. This provides even feeding at the beginning of seams and helps when sewing over 3 to 12 layers of fabric, such as sewing over welt seams when hemming jeans. During sewing when you reach the point where the layers increase, lower the needle into the down position, raise the presser foot, hold in the black button and lower the foot, it locks in the horizontal position, continue sewing.

This needle has a special coating making it suitable for embroidery when stitching through fabric layers that are fixed with adhesive spray, iron-on fabric adhesive or glue. The needle itself has the same features as our regular embroidery needles, however the special coating reduces glue residue on the needle itself and the needle eye which minimizes thread breakage. Also, this needle has a longer stitch life, then a regular embroidery needle. Can also be used for applique when stitching through fabrics adhered to a base fabric.

Regular needle stitch life is approximately 8 hours depending on the fabric being stitched.

The ultra glide foot moves smoothly over leather, imitation leather, ultra suede, vinyl, plastic coated fabrics and even plastics. Did you know Janome have a finger guard which can be used with the range of 7mm & 5mm top loading sewing machines.

This finger guard can be used with a variety of feet, it helps young sewers or beginner sewers to stay away from the needle, which is stitching at up to 820 stitches per minute depending on the model. Also, available is a clear zig zag foot with a fixed finger guard. Better to be safe than sorry.

The even feed foot, sometimes referred to as the walking foot, is designed with a set of feed dogs (teeth) which allow the fabric to feed without shifting and eliminates the problems of the underlayer of fabric coming up short.

The even feed foot is great for quilt sandwiches, topstitching and stitching specialty fabrics.

The purple tip needle is a #90/14 size needle that prevents skipped stitches in heavy fabrics including knits in ordinary sewing and when embroidering. It features a ball point tip* which helps to create neat and tidy stitches.

*The ball point tip is especially useful when sewing knitted fabric and synthetic fabric as it prevents fabric thread breakage.

As with beads and pearls, it is easy to attach ribbons and even sequins with the help of our special ribbon/sequin foot. This foot is designed with guides through which ribbon or strung sequins can be inserted and it will allow them to feed through evenly as you sew. Besides affixing the ribbon, a wide ladder stitch can be used with narrow ribbon to make an easy and functional drawstring. Depending on the desired finish, use matching decorative thread or monofilament thread for a 3D effect. Layering the ribbons is also a creative option.
